My brownies have split - can I still eat them?

All the oil has risen to the top while they're cooking - they haven't cracked on the top.

What happened?

Who knows but of course you can eat them! The worse looking the cake/biscuit, the better it tastes IME.

turn em upside down and it will seem like you created a lovely moist layer on bottom. stick some cream on top. have a happy christmas!

Don't you know that when baking goes wrong, all the calories fall out? Of course you should eat them!

Unless you're entering them into a WI cake competition I wouldn't bother what they look like -they're chocolate brownies...EAT THEM!
