I need your fab ideas for pre-Christmas dinner canapes please!

As light as possible, don't want to spoil appetites, just whet them...

Oh, and no fish please.

Thank you

FolornHope · 21/12/2009 18:49

here

FolornHope · 21/12/2009 18:49

chicken

FolornHope · 21/12/2009 18:50

are prawns fish?

Tizzyjacko · 21/12/2009 18:50

Chocolate coins, quality street, fingerful of bread sauce, blood licked from hand after being stabbed with a fork for knicking the bread sauce...

Not very helpful but it keeps you up the active list.

i wouldn't do more than open a packet of posh crisps or cashews when there is so much else to come.

We're having blinis with sour cream and lumpfish caviar, puff pastry with tomato and goat cheese squares and sausages. But this is quite some time before the main meal...

FolornHope · 21/12/2009 18:51

also hsop bought blinis with soured cream and fake caviar or smoked salmon

AND cocktail sticks with mozarella pearls, those sunblush tomatoes ( Tesco are nicest) and some parma ham.

also delia olive scones are nice and do aheady here

FolornHope · 21/12/2009 18:51

oh for XMAS DAY?

on NO starter - you dont need it

theminniebauble · 21/12/2009 18:56

Parma ham wrapped around fig quarters, secured with cocktail sticks.

Home made chicken liver pate on little pieces of toast that you have cut out with a christmas themed cookie cutter.

Wow, thanks for responses! ( tizzy)

Some very good ideas, thank you. Can you have blinis with anything non-fishy? Or is that sacrilege? I can't bear fish in any form (even prawns )

I don't normally do this, but am being forced to cook for foreign in-laws and am martyring myself shamelessly. I WILL win Christmas, even if it kills me. Or them.

I will definitely try the parmesan pastry things and the mozzarella and tomato thingies.

Any more ideas gratefully received...

the moxarella thingsa re always a huge hit
get the pearls ( tiny balls)

snickersnack · 21/12/2009 20:47

You could put some pate on the blinis. Or some tomato and goat cheese. Or Parma ham and pesto.

mazzystartled · 21/12/2009 20:49

parsnip fritters
google gary rhodes recipe
sound vile, are the business (ditch the blue cheese dip)

alypaly · 22/12/2009 00:05

small slices of ripe figs with a blob of marscapone, mini cheese straws, blini with roast beef and either a red onion topping or horseradih sauce.

tethersjinglebellend · 22/12/2009 20:56
