I will be nearly 38 weeks preggers on Xmas Eve. Have DP's parents coming and my mum. Not sure what to cook for Xmas Eve.

Anyone got any ideas??

Something that's one pot, not too complicated, bung in the oven sort of thing, but thinking casseroles are boring so something else.

Slow cooked joint of meat? Soup for starter? Chocolate bomb for pudding?

I was thinking things you can do pretty much the day before, so you only need to the main on the day.

fish pie. Can be made in advance. Nigella has a great one in her Christmas book, you don't even need ot pre-cook the fish.

We usually do lasagne and salad as can do it a day or two before and stick it in the fridge.

Or a curry which you can do before too and just re-heat as that's always nicer re-heated.

I have done a lovely salmon wellington type dish - very easy with shop-bought puff pastry, you can make it in advance and just bung it in the oven!

how about a cheese fondue? you can either buy all the cheeses yourself or get a couple of the packs. wack in a bit of schnapps and cut a baguette or two into cubes.

serve with a tomato and cucumber salads.

just make sure pudding is something light!
