Jus-rol or Pilbury do ready made cookie dough (and sometimes gingerbread). It saves time & mess. Buy some Xmas cookie cutters and away you go

Nigella's butter cut out biscuits are good, although you have to make sure you let the dough sit in the fridge for an hour before you roll it out, as it is really sticky dough.

1oz sugar
2oz butter or marg
3oz flour
(tart up by adding ginger, cinnamon and/or dried fruit, or use demerara sugar)

cream butter and sugar, stir in flour, roll out, cut out, make holes for hanging, 180C 10-20min

ice with glace icing (250g icing sugar, just enough hto water to make it spreadable) once cool, stick on silver balls etc

MrsB - I forgot to say, I made your biscuits last week after searching in the recipe section of MN for easy recipes.

THANK YOU.

I am usually totally shite with baking, but I finally have something I can make for school fetes etc and play Smug Baking Mum for once in my life

Gingerbread biscuits are good for tree hanging. I have a recipe somewhere but I'm sure you will find one online.

MrsBadger · 16/12/2009 20:52

MrsMattie - they are fab, aren't they?

we keep the recipe inside the flour tub for when dh has 'help, how do I amuse dc?' panic on wet weekends.
