will be early evening - kids and adults - nothing mush else on offer except crisps and olives. and maybe some pfeffernusse (sp?). how many mince pies would you eat? your kids? (mine don't like them). I thank you.

Two.

Lots of people don't like them so that ups the average.
The small ones that you can buy at Waitrose make yourself are lovely.

We went to one this afternoon, and dh ate about 10, which is less than usual and less than he really wanted.

FrannyandZooey · 13/12/2009 18:30

IME fewer than you think - not many people actually seem to like them

Hassled · 13/12/2009 18:32

Two

my kids, none. All 3 of them dislike mince pies intensely.

DH and I would scoff buckets of 'em though.

I would say average of 2 pp as like others say, lots of people don't actually like them.

CuppaTeaJanice · 13/12/2009 18:43

Maybe think about having some other cakes on offer though, as mince pies are disgusting not popular.

hatwoman · 13/12/2009 20:30

my mince pies are not disgusting. and no I'm not making other sorts of cake. except the pfeffernusse - saw a recipe for them in the newspaper and they look rather nice. have spent far too much time this weekend baking. I'm relieved at the idea of an average of 2. all I need to know now is how many people are coming . dd has now decided she likes them - having helped me make them. dh's sister once ate about 30. she was 2. and was very sick. thankfully she's a little more restrained these days (unlike Mr Cab'tsleepwon'tsleep...)

I would eat about 3-5. Depending on size and how long the party is. DP would eat 5-6.

I'd count on max 2 per person. Are you doing the brandy butter etc as well?

lilolilmanchester · 14/12/2009 11:43

people will eat as many as are there. 2 per person is enough. Perhaps put out a bowl of satsumas/clementines as well?

TisTheSeasonToBeHully · 14/12/2009 11:47

17

SleightiesChick · 14/12/2009 11:49

2 or maybe 3 if lots of your guests have hearty appetites for this sort of thing. Like the suggestion of the bowl of satsumas as well.

IdrisTheRedNosedDragon · 14/12/2009 11:49

I would probably eat about 6. The whole of my family (DH, me, DS and DD) would probably eat between 12 and 15 in total.

Mincepiedermama · 14/12/2009 11:49

My ds snaffled four mince pies within ten minutes from a buffet at a party we went to at the weekend.

I had to police him from then on.

lilolilmanchester · 14/12/2009 11:51

also, there are lots of boxes of Cadburys mini Christmas character choc biscs around quite cheaply - a couple of boxes of those might go down well with the kids.
