I know lots love cooking their ham in coke, but we are not sweet toothed so I have never tried it. I just boil, then finish off with mustard and honey on top. Delia's blackened ham just looked very black and not appetising! How are you cooking your ham

I do ham with a mango chutney glaze in a roasting bag.

gives it a nice, not too sweet finish.

I boiled up a yummy ham this week with onion, a carton of apple juice and brown sugar. Yum yum yum, I highly recommend trying this.

boiled for 45 mins. then in oven in big foil pokey-hat( as my scottish mum would describe it), with juice and rind of 2 oranges and 6 cloves. then whip foil off for last bit. in oven for about 2 hrs at 190 degrees.
best gammon joint ever, said dh.

Boiled with ajar of marmalade. This gives it the sweetness, but also has the slight sourness/bitterness of the orange peel to prevent it becoming too sweet.

Love ham in coke, it just tastes like sweet-cure ham, I suppose, but much, much nicer as it's so tender. The onion, cloves, mustard etc offset the sweetness.

some good ideas - still don't think I am brave enough to try ham with coke for Christmas. Lots of people rave about ham in the slow cooker and that was disaster, as it was too tender for us - yuk
