Or would that be a bit wierd? Dh is 50 again in January, am planning a surprise do (he doesn't do MN luckily) and thought about serving haggis, neeps and tatties, with a tray of hot dogs as an alternative.

Is this wierd or memorable? I'm Scottish, he's Czech (hence the hot dogs - very mittel-evropean).

What would you think if you came to that party?

I'd love it. I love haggis. But not everyone does.

Bleatblurt · 10/12/2009 14:49

Yum! Where's my invite? You need something for veggies though.

meltedmincepies · 10/12/2009 14:52

Ok, so what goes with neeps and tatties for the veggies?

Salmon.

SerenityNowAKABleh · 10/12/2009 14:57

Oh wait, that's for the "pretend" veggies like me. For real ones, um ... deep friend pizza?

Bleatblurt · 10/12/2009 14:58

Veggie haggis!

KurriKurri · 10/12/2009 15:11

You can get veggie haggis from waitrose (esp. in January). Sounds a lovely idea. Haggis is for life, not just for Burns night

meltedmincepies · 10/12/2009 16:13

lol at the deep fried pizza. I'll have to have deep fried marbars too!

Oh bugger, I've namechanged!

You'd need copious amounts of whisky too and a piper

HeffaMerryChristmas · 10/12/2009 16:16

Sounds fab, my DH would love it. I really like haggis, but it's difficult to get hold of it down here outside of January

StirlingInDaGrotto · 10/12/2009 16:26

We are having Veg Haggis tonight - it is lovely. I haven't even tried the meat version. I have heard too many things to put me off.

You can always Order online if you can't find them in the shops.

IneedacleanerIamalazyslattern · 10/12/2009 16:29

Veggie Haggis is actually really nice too.
My mum buys it so I used to get both.

Are we all invited???? I love haggis.

Saltire · 10/12/2009 16:29

Don't order from tesco - I did one year and they sent me Shortbread as a substitute ont eh basis that "well they are both Scottish".

HeffaMerryChristmas · 10/12/2009 16:54

Ooh, thanks for the link Stirling.

I've never tried veggie haggis, might give it a go sometime.

ROFL at shortbread being substituted for haggis, that's great!

meltedmincepies · 11/12/2009 13:08

Thanks, I've looked online too.

Do you thinks it is easier to cook lots of small or a couple of the large ones?
