sweet pastry question

so iv made regular pastry i do it quite often but never sweet iv got jamies recipe but i have no icing suger will it be ruined if i use castor really want to made jam tarts with dd this afternoon

not sure on the caster sugar but pretty sure you could make jam tarts with normal shortcrust pastry (i.e. no sugar). I have never made dessert pastry so don't know how you make it without looking it up to see whether caster sugar would be an ok variation.

will be fine - maybe the sugar will still have a bit of crunch but that's not a bad thing necessarily.
