I have been tasked with doing a coke ham for christmas day at my mums.

Is it worth buying a ham from a butcher and how much would it cost me (to feed 6/8), how would i ask for it (i have only ever been in a butcher twice in my life) and will i have to order it.

Or, shall i just but it from Tesco like i normally do ?

yep, tastes nicer and you can have a chat with the butcher about what to do with it.
