has anyone any ideas of what I can make on Saturday night for 8 easy to please people. Doesn't need to be impressive but considering the weather it must be warming and filling and yummy too. All suggestions considered!

Vegetarian chilli with rice and jacket potatos can be easily dressed up with salad, side bowls of salsa/sour cream/guacamole

Or my personal favourite of veggie lasagne with garlic bread and salad

Both are easy to do for larger groups

I'm doing Delia's mediterranean vege lasagne for vege lunch guests on Saturday. Lasagne might be too boring though?

Chilli, rice, salad etc is delicious and easy.

Or curry - a big pan of aloo gobhi, a big pan of mattar paneer, rice, raita, chapatis and salad. Yum.

Or a huge pile of cous cous, with pine nuts and herbs - served with a chick pea tagine and some lemony salads.

oooh! sounds nice esp Janeite. Do you happen to have a link to a recipe or is this a speciality of your own?

Which one?

Chilli - I use Nigella's when I bother with a recipe.

Mattar paneer - ditto Nigella but I simplify it a lot.

Aloo gobhi - Nigella has one but I haven't used it. I sometimes use one where you cook it in yoghurt but that's quite 'different' tasting; otherwise I make it up.

Tagine - I make it up too - or use a Madhur Jafrey recipe.
