Its DH's birthday next week and want something nice (can't afford to go out) but don't want to be slaving in the kitchen all night.

Has anyone had anything from the M&S 'nice' ready meal ranges? I was particularly wondering about the beef wellington? Its £10 though so don't want to get it unless its really, really nice!

I've had the steak and blue cheese (stilton I think?) pie. It's heaven on a plate. nom nom.

Anyone else tried these ranges?

The cottage pie and mousakka are hideous. Incredibly oily.

Beef Wellington is pretty simple to make (cheat with ready made pastry)

Mmm the meatballs and potatoes are nice and very "manly" IYSWIM but it's not a huge portion so if you and your DH are piggies have healthy appetites like me then you will need to pad the meal out.

Have you got a Waitrose - their ready meals are lovely too. I get those for birthday meal treats. I do not shop at Waitrose normally

Get a packet of duck legs from M&S and a jar of wholegrain mustard. Smother duck legs in mustand and roast. Serve with jacket potato and any ready made veg you want. It is unbelievable scrummy and is no more effort than those ready meals.
