Hi

I'm new to this site and would be so grateful for any help or advice that anyone can offer as I'm feeling absolutely desperate now...

I weaned my 10mth baby at 18wks on the advice of the HV however since then she has hardly eaten any solids. I have tried before milk, after some milk, warmed food, pureed, mashed, loads and loads of finger foods but she does not seem to have alot of interest.

I noticed a real decrease in her solids from about 8 1/2 mths possibly coinciding with teething and colds and even less in the last couple of weeks as I have now weaned her on to bottles of formula - she was exclusively br fed prior to this.

It is now becoming a battle ground, where I feel constantly anxious about feeding her knowing that she is going to turn her head away or spit it out.

Last night felt like the final straw when she woke at 1.30am wouldn't settle till after 4am without a bottle...not had to feed her through the night since 5 mths.

She is following the 25th percentile. This is my second child - the other 3yrs has always eaten very well and lots! and has sat on the 98th percentile since 2mths (even though both babies were same birth weight ).

Thank you so much in advance anyone....

yes trying to spoon feed purees also tried mashed food with bits in case she was fed up with puree food but spits this out. Sometimes I just leave a selection of finger foods out...mixed veg, breadsticks, tiny bits of cooked chicken, ham, crackers, cereal...she picks it up chews then spits it out. I'm sad to say that I have a massive selection of small toys that I have been using to try and distract her while trying to spoon food in.

She will take (and seems to enjoy) soya yogurt (she is dairy allergic), fruit pots, bread sticks, mixed veg, organix crisp things...and not much else really...

I did babyled weaning with my DS and the theory there is that until they're one, food is just for fun. I found that really helped me as my DS was a bit of a lousy eater (still is).

As long as your DD is drinking enough milk, then she will be fine.
