I read the book this recipe came from at my friend's house. She's having a kitchen fitted and all her books are packed away. Please help!

Should have said - I think it might have been Nigella or Nigel Slater.

It is in How to Eat - early Nigella! I make it every year, it's lovely. Bizarrely though all my cookbooks are packed away too as I am also having a kitchen fitted so can't lay hands on it atm but hth anyhow!

Thank you Roquefort! I'll buy the book. I'm thinking of doing it as the Xmas starter.

Cutternut squash and chestnut also a good combination:-

1 onion
1 large butternut squash
pack of merchant gourmet ready cooked and peeled chestnuts
stock cube
water

Cut up onion. Peel and cut up squash.
Cook onion in a bit of olive oil.
Add squash and cook a bit.
Add chestnuts and give a bit of a stir
Add stock cube and water to just cover the veg.
Simmer till squash is mushy.
Liquidise.
Season to you taste.

It's even nicer with a dollop of creme fraiche.

Obvious typo... No idea what a cutternut squash is or what it would taste like

StrictlyBoogying · 20/11/2009 17:03

It sounds vaguely rude.
Thanks you. I'll use the online recipe and try Cutternuts too!
