Out of date mash - safe to eat?

In my fridge is some 'fresh mash' from M and S (I know I'm lazy and should do it myself but........). Just noticed it is 4 days past sell by date. It's just potato thogh - would it be safe or am I taking a risk to eat it?

has it not got milk or cream mashed in with it? If so, then I wouldnt eat it.

throw it away...it has starch in it and like rice ,it goes off really quickly....c'mon 4 days....youve got to be joking!!!!

Can you clarify if it's a Sell By or Use By date?

fifitot · 18/11/2009 13:20

Use by.....think I will throw it. Shame.

Thanks for replies.

Stinkyfeet - are 'sell-by' dates still in use? Ive never seen this for years only 'use by' and 'best before'.
