Dh loves his coffee, and has an espresso machine, but I'm totally stumped as to what to get him for christmas and saw a very cool looking Nespresso machine.

I don't drink coffee, so would love opinions from coffee lovers

IIRC they only take nespresso pods, ie Nestle, so I wouldn't buy myself. And if he has an expresso machine already I'm not sure he needs both.

How about some lovely coffees from Whittards?

Yes, the Nespresso would replace the one he has now, he could bring that into work maybe.

Just wondering if it makes spectacularly better coffee!

I love my coffee and I don't think it makes better coffee also the cost of the little coffee pods add up and are not available everywhere ie in the supermaket. The best espresso as my italian housemates told me is made stove top.
I wouldn't buy one and I love my kitchen gadgets.

Really? Looks like I'm back to the drawing board so. Dh is so hard to buy for, damn him.

Would he enjoy grinding his own beans?

What about a burr coffeee grinder

shinybaubles · 13/11/2009 17:18

now a coffee grinder is worth having - good idea

VerityBrulee · 13/11/2009 17:32

Thanks, we have a grinder, and selection of different beans, in lovely jars for different times of day/days of week

He is a designer, so really hard to buy for as he's so fussy about how things look, but then I am too, so can't criticise him too much for that!

Every year Illy produce a set of espresso cups and saucers by a different designer. I'm not sure where you'd get them in this country, but have a look at this season's collection.

I'd be very happy to wake up to that on christmas morning.

Oooh, he might like those, MrsMuddle, I will investigate.

Thanks
