Everyone raves about Jamie's Ministry of Food and his Dinners books....(both on my wishlist for Christmas, along with Economy Gastronomy) (I just love cookbooks actually)

Delia is good if you like being bossed.

I like Nigella myself, but she's a bit luxurious.....

this is a really good one ( you can get it cheaper though)
It has lots of basic stuff, some fancy stuff, baking, puds

BBC Good Food's Family Meal Planner cookbook is really good. So is Good Housekeepings, Family Meals for a Fiver.

The Family meal planner has different sections on batch cooking, planned leftovers, cheap midweek meals, store cupboard cooking etc. and has 25 (I think) weekly meal planners at the back. It is really well worth the money and about the only cookbook that I have used more than a couple of times, even though I have about 3 dozen.
