Ours has been in there for 5 years.......

We didn't even bother to freeze ours, just gave it good shot of alcohol occasionally.

Did the trick though - used the top layer at DS1's naming day. We married in 1989, naming day was in 1999

Should it still be ok - it's a rich fruit one?

I'm sure it will be fine Puff.

Is it iced (as in the sugary stuff not the stuff from the freezer )? If so you might have to remove the icing, check the cake for freezer burn and then re-ice it. If it does have slight freezer burn you might be able to shave a thin slice of cake off all the way around before re-icing.

Oh and if it is slightly dry then make holes in the base with a metal skewer and drip in some good alcohol.

Great, thanks - like the idea of adding alcohol !
