Easy Cheap Festive Nibbles for function

We are doing festive nibbles for a school function - most will have eaten prior to coming or the more competitive amongst will bring stuff along too. Nibbles will be placed on tables of 6-8 and need to be cheap and easy. Any ideas? Has anyone been to a function or organised one where this was achieved - ideally we don't want to spend too much as this eats into the profit which is for the kids but do want people to think that the ticket price was worth it. Thanks in anticipation

Doritos or similar, mini sausages, little canapes are good.

However don't have too much variety - people eat more if there are more things to choose from - max four, pref. three savoury one sweet.

Why not let people just bring their own nibbles.

In Scotland when we have a ceilidh everyone just brings along their own nibbles and drinks. Much less hassle for organisers.

Loads of the supermarkets have offers on party food at the moment eg pigs in blankets, mini pizzas, etc. Not haute cusine but they will be popular and cheaper i would imagine than making your own.
