help quick please! poached egg - how?

how do i poach an egg without an egg poaching pan?

i know you can do it in a pan of boiling water but ive no idea how you do it! id like one for lunch before i go to work! does anyone know how you do it and do it right?

(my efforts in the past have resulted in a white goo floating round the pan!)

boil water, when boiling gently, stir water to create a whirlpool, crack egg into centre of whirlpool, then remove pan from heat - leave for 3 mins, lift out onto kitchen paper to drain - eat yum

it worked! yum! and no messy horrible egg cup things to wash after either - thats way easier that with a poached egg pan isnt it?
