I washed them, then threw a handful of salt over, then toasted under a hot grill until they were slightly brown. They weren't really like the ones I buy in the health food shop but they did taste pretty good.

Dry them, sprinkle with salt and pop them in the oven for 20-30 mins. Very tasty.

The problem is that they have an outer shell that needs removing - I just lost patience and bought a bag instead

Do they? I just ate mine

i like the oven idea just stick em in and leave em. what temp in c would you have the oven.
i've reda that the outer shell is perfectly edible!

Don't wash-the juices will caramelise and add flavour. I'm about to do mine.

Medium oven, 160-180 degrees c. I didn't wash mine, just patted the worst of the flesh off, and they were fine. Shells and all.

If anyone wants an ultra quickl method, I put a handful with some salt on a small plate in the microwave for 2-3 mins & they were scoffed down by the children so they can't have been too bad.
