Meringue : How far in advance can I prepare it?

I am making Nigella's chocolate meringue for tomorrow night. Will it be as nice if prepared tonight or should I wait until tomorrow for best results? Any meringue experts' advice warmly welcomed. I have never made it berfore. TIA.

am not sure of exact recipe

if it is the stacked one the meringue by itself keeps for ages, but don't layer it up till just before you need it else it goes squishy

No layering, that would be a bit complicated for me. Thanks for advice. I was just going to make the shell bit, not the cream. Should I keep it in the fridge?

i keep mine in an airtight tin outside the fridge. they last a few days (or till DH finds and eats them!)

nope, airtight tin is fine

they last ages unfilled
