overmydeadbody · 24/10/2009 12:55

Just leave them out, as the others said.

Do you mean you have never tried chilli?

foxinsocks · 24/10/2009 12:56

yes we put baked beans in (for some odd reason, sister allergic to kidlee beans)

tastes v nice with baked beans

lisianthus · 24/10/2009 19:28

I've heard that Texans say "anyone who knows beans about chili, knows chili doesn't have beans" so arguably it shouldn't have beans in it anyway!

I like butter beans in chilli (veggie chilli in my case). I could not contemplate putting a tin of baked beans in anything - shudder.

In the same vein as lisianthus I was reading a website which says that apparently a lot of 'authentic' chili recipes don't have kidney beans. So you have a v good excuse to not use them!

The website is www.curryhouse.co.uk/britmex/mexican/index.htm

the recipes there are hot but the guy who writes it is a total chilli head.

He has a link to chile.netrelief.com/classic_texas_red_chili_recipes.shtml which has a few historial recipes (all minus the evil beans).

Hope this helps!!!

Thanks everyone. Sorry I disappeared.

No, I have never had chili!

I dont like any beans, including baked beans - 'tis the texture. Yuck.

Will take a look at the recipes posted. Thanks
