Quick roast chicken question

Going to do one for lunch and normally squeeze a lemon over it and then put it inside before roasting. But have only got limes... would that taste weird?

Lime and ginger might be nice....

CybilAviationAuthority · 24/10/2009 09:14

Yuck, that doesn't sound right to me.

DH normally pops an onion inside or a halved pepper and some garlic.
Lime and ginger would work.

Lonicera · 24/10/2009 09:17

Stuff it

no no no
Don't put limes on before or during cooking. Limes taste bitter once cooked.

If you want to give it a sour wist, squeeze some frexh lime juice into the gravy once it is made or just squeeze a little over the chicken once it is cooked.

But I wouldn't recommend it. Limes are not a substitute for lemons. If you're desperate you'll be better off using an orange.

Orange flavoured chicken works with a traditional roast.

Thanks . Have got onion, pepper and garlic so might try that (or send dh to shop for lemon).

I continue to prove to dh that MN knows all things

onion, pepper and garlic will be best.

And shove some salt and pepper and butter under the skin on the breast too. Keeps it moist
