Freezing a chicken?

I know this is a really stupid question, but I have a big chicken that I was going to cook for guests this weekend, but they can't come anymore.

It'll be alright in the freezer, won't it?

Provided the chicken has already ceased to be and isn't actually clucking, it will be fine in the freezer .

overmydeadbody · 23/10/2009 11:14

of course it will be alright in the freezer!

Unless it has already been frozen and defrosted, but you know that right?

daisyj · 23/10/2009 11:15

It'll be fine as long as it's still within it's use by date when you put it in the freezer. I've just done the same thing, so I hope I'm right .

daisyj · 23/10/2009 11:16

its use by date. Not it's

I'm such an idiot [slaps self]

People buy turkeys ages before Christmas and freeze them, why the hell wouldn't a chicken be safe to freeze?

Dear god...
