French Onion Soup

Can I make french onion soup with red onions? I have about 1kg of them and have no idea what to do with them.

yes of course

You can also bake them. Peel the skin off while keeping them whole, cut a cross in the top of each, not cutting down to the bottom, wrap each onion in foil with a knob of buter and two cloves of garlic in each and bake in a hot oven for an hour.

Yum.

you could re-name it Spanish Onion Soup!
