Yet another diet question, I read in a magazine recently that Holland & Barret do a 7 day supplement called 7 day souper cabbage diet - has anyone tried it? Need to loose some weight fast and easily to get me started properly on the loose weight track before I'm now heavier than when my dd was born so need to get started before I put on any more weight... HEEEELLLLLP!!!!

I have done the cabbage soup deit tha you make yourself, and it really works as a kickstart for me. I wouldn't bother buying a supplement or a cabbage soup mix as by all accounts it is rank. If you do a search online you will find the recipe for the cabbage soup diet, or there is a book which is called the 'New cabbage soup diet'. The book is quite good as it gives a lot of extra information about the diet as well as the recipe.

All I would say is it is hard going, but it is only a week. You have to be able to commit to a week of it, by day 4 you will probably want to vomit! and be really grumpy - I warned my work I would be an evil witch by day 3. However I used it as more of a detox back in the first week of Jan - I lost 6lbs, and even now some of the things I started then have carried on (I don't take milk in tea etc) I also went on to lose 2 stone in total.

If yu have the willpower go for it, I planned things in advance, so as soon as I finished I went to slimming world callses so I didn't lose the headstart!

agree with Crunchie, use the one where you make the soup yourself and then follow the plan.
1st day is all fruit
2nd day is all veg
3rd day is a baked potato for lunch with a bit of spread plus veg
4th day you are allowed 5 bananas and a pint of milk
5th day you can have meat (lean beaf, 8 ounces) and veg and all the veg you want
6th day it's rice and chicken and last day I think it was lean beaf, 8 ounces and veg again.
Of course you can have all the cabbage soup you have made any time you wish!
I did it for two weeks 3 years ago and shifted over a stone and never took it back, until I got pg that is.

I am thinking to do it again once I have finished bfeeding...

Dh lasted 5 days and then bunged the stuff on the compost heap = even the foxes didnt want it!

I did it and lost 8lb in a week. Sustituted veggie sausages for the meat. Got realy fed up of the soup but stuck to it. Am considering doing it again. If you can't find the recipie on line let me know and I will dig it out and put it on here.

My dad and sister both did it. Both lost weight and would use it again. Dad in particular lost over 2 stone which was very important as he last year had a heart attack. They did say it was boring but you could have 1 week on and 1 week off.

Both made their own soup, not a soup mix - I suppose it depends if you can bear articifial soup mixes. Apparently the home-made one stinks your house out.

check the plan and the recipe at www.cabbage-soup-diet.com/index.php
it's a slight different version from the one I followed, but the principle are the same

Oh and don't forget, you can flavour the soup with extra herbs, spices etc. I used a herb/chilli mix which made it like a spicy minestrone (without the pasta!) Also do use the V8 juice in it, as this makes it more flavoursome. Basically bung in loads of calorie free flavours as I think half the problem is if you don't actually like the flavour of the soup. I really liked mine, so found it easy.

I've just remembered after a week on this I couldn't drink diet coke again, and 6 months later still can't stand it. I only drink water (tap or fizzy) all 'diet' drink still taste really foul!

happyspider, that was the recipe and plan I used (from the website) the 'new' cabbage suop diet includes brown rice in the soup, and yoghurt or milk every day. I can't find it online, but check out a book shop. I think it would be easier to follow than the original.
