artichokes

Have recently developed a bit of a taste for Zizzi's artichoke and pine nut pasta and would like to try and recreate it myself. Are tinned artichokes edible or hideous please? It's just that they are much cheaper than the jarred in oil ones.

Thank you. I've never tried fresh ones, just the jarred ones but I agree, they look a lot of effort! Think I might try doing it with jarred ones instead. I tried tinned asparagus once, years and years ago - and it was like eating slugs. I suspect artichokes might be similar, non?
