Vanilla Emergency - PLEASE HELP!!!!!

I'm making a jam roly poly (Jamie recipe, highly recommend) I need vanilla seed but haven't got pods and the nearest shops don't stock. I di have vanilla essence - will that be OK and how much should I use?

Thanks all it was lovely - sorry didn't have time to take phots but fasb recipe - Jamie Olivers Dinners - very easy and perfect for todays cold weather!

It is better with vanilla seeds but 2 tsps of vanilla extract did the job well.
