am thinking of making a hot pot supper for a family do, however, have never made it before

So talk to me about how to make a hotpot/lobby/potato pie (whatever you call it) (with a crust) and what else could I serve?

Mushy peas?
Beetroot?

Pickled red cabbage mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm

My nan used to do a corned beef hotpot

Cut up potatoes, onions & carrot & cook until tender
Add chunks of corned beef and an oxo cube, stir well & leave to simmer for about 10 mins until corned beef has begun to disintegrate
Add a shake of bisto gravy granules

She'd then transfer it to a deep pyrex bowl and pop a cup upside down so about 1-2 inches of cup stuck out and draped the shortcrust pastry over the top, popped into the oven until golden & baked

Served with said red cabbage or HP brown sauce
