hello, i'm just peeling my apples to make some chutney but wondering about quantities - the recipe says 900g apples, peeled and cored.

does this mean 900g of apples before or after peeling and coring?!?!?

tia

After, if it says 900g apples, peeled and cored, in the ingreidnets.

PS one average sized apple is 100g of apple when peeled and cored, so you need about 9 average sized apples, or about four large cooking apples.

brilliant, thank you. that's what i did and it seems to have worked fine - not sure about the taste though cos i'm not keen on chutney, it's for my dp - i seem to have turned into his chutney slave.

i did 3 kg of apples, which became 2 kg once cored and peeled, so i now have 6 rather satifying-looking jars of chutney. well done me .
