Do you add any fruit or cinnamon to it? I can't imagine it tastes very nice with just water!

I did when I was a student (half mug porridge, full mug water). It was OK if I added half a tin of golden syrup (or thereabouts!). Now I have it with milk - it's much nicer

Just had a bowl for supper as DH out at Hotel du Vin with work.

Make it with half water, half semi skimmed, and brown sugar. Although I am watching masterchef at the mo' and I am wondering if a veal jus or macerated swede would have more of an edge than sugar?

I have mine made with water. I put the oats in a pan the night before and put the water in. By morning, the oats are all swollen up and it makes it more yummy. Sometimes I put blueberries or strawbs on top.

I've just remembered that I used to make a big batch of poached dried fruits (apple, prune and apricot) at the beginning of the week and spoon some over my porridge everyday. I didn't even need extra sugar (and I am someone who porridges her sugar, not sugars her porridge).
I may start doing that again now it's getting cold.

I did it today with 25g oats. Poured out 150ml of water which looked too much so I put in about 95ml in the end I think. Cooked it for 2 minutes in the microwave and then mashed in a banana. Yum!

I make one portion with half a cup of oats and a cup of water. And literally just a bare pinch of salt, it does seem to taste better than with no salt at all.
at porridge with macerated swede.

I used to pretend I liked it the Scots way - made with water, add salt DEFINITELY no sugar or honey - and pour on milk when you eat it. But it's horrible. So now I make it with 3/4 milk and sprinkle on sugar to serve.

Always make it with water and then add Cape Raisins, almonds and a drizzle of semi-skimmed milk. I always use Waitrose Organic Jumbo Rolled Oats. For some reason this makes creamier porridge than any other I've tasted.
