Out of Date Salmon

I have 2 salmon fillets in the fridge which are in a sealed pack. They have a use by date of 9th June and I bought them on 8th June (use by Thursday). Would you use them or bin them>

Bin, bin bin! I bet they smell to high heaven once you've got them out of the pack. And even if they don't, don't risk giving yourself food poisoning!

I'd use them proovided they don't smell. Useby dates do have some leeway in them - the food isn't fine one day and rank the next.

I always struggle with raw meat and fish because I think both smell disgusting even when they're not off

Soupy, I've had some food from M&S that was supposed to be fine a day before its sell by date, but wasn't. Think you have to do the sniff test. Bleuuugh.

I read this thread as Out of date Simon, thinking it should be in "only joking" lol.

I'd go by the smell and cook them a bit longer than normal (to be pale pink all the way through).

depends on whether they smell. If they do bin them and if they don't cook them. IMO anyway.

picture this you are sat on the loo stomach cramps ,the runs, lots of pain ,then at the same time you need to be sick,how awfull does that feel for the sake of a few quid.get rid of the fish and dont inflict poisoning on anyone else especially children who always get it worse,im prone to a dodgy tum at the mere wiff of out of date and id hate you to feel that bad too,its just not worth it.

i agree with erins mum... there are some things just not worth the risk...

i think cheese yoghurts butter, fruit and veg etc are very often (almost always) fine after their useby dates... but when it coms to raw fish / chicken i would never risk it.

would Def NOT feed it to child either (not suggesting you would, BTW )
