lentil help please

I have found a nice recipe for Sweet potato and lentil soup. It specifies red lentils but I don't have any I have green ones, brown ones and yellow ones can I subsitute any of these as I really fancy some soup?

red lentils you do not need to soak - therefore the recipe will not state anything about soaking.

if you soak the lentils you have and follwo the packet instructions - then use them in the recipe it should be fine

Thanks will soak some yellow ones then and try that.
