How much formula does your 6 week old have?

Just interested to know how much other 6 week old's are having. My ds is currently have 32 oz between 7 am - 11 am and then one smaller feed in the night which varies, so in total he has about 35/36 ounces per 24 hours. This seems quite a lot to me. He weighed 7 lbs 10 oz at birth, was last weighed about 2 and a bit weeks ago and was 9 lbs 10 oz so I guess he is now well over 10 lbs. The biggest feeds he has are 6 oz bottles, but I think he is going through a growth spurt at the moment so I am tempted to up them a little bit. He always finishes every feed and sometimes looks for more. He is in GF routine and during this past week has begun to settle quite well but his lunchtime nap went a bit wrong today and I wondered if he might have been hungry? Anyone got a guzzling baby like mine?

Melly - I am not good in pounds... how many ounces has HE gained in the past 6 weeks????

SueW · 25/05/2003 20:40

16oz = 1lb

So he has gained over 32oz in 6 weeks (122oz to 154oz).

Or in 'real' money has gone from approx 3.4kg to 4.3kg approx between weigh-ins. Or roughly 25% gain in body weight. I think the maths is right.

HTH pupuce

Melly .... my baby was a guzzler and still is at 3 and a half years old!! He went on to bottles at 6 weeks and he used to have 7 6oz bottles a day ... at 9 weeks I went up to 8oz bottles (6 a day) and then from 16 weeks had 5 a day (we started solids earlier than most at 13 weeks) He was a big boy at birth (10+ lbs) and has always had a healthy weight gain. When he was about 5 months I did worry because he was HUGE and people always commented on it ... but he slimmed down when he started to crawl (at 10 months) and now (althought still heavy) he is an average sized toddler ... who is still always hungry ...
HTH!!!

Thanks Pupuce, Ghosty and SueW. I know, I know, Pupuce I do need to relax but I feel like GF is looking over my bloody shoulder all the time. I really don't know what I'm fretting about because he is doing so well, most days sleeps well as per GF routine and has settled every evening at 7 pm (sometimes after 10/15 mins) until I wake him for late feed, feeds well at 10.30 pm and settles back off until about 3.30 am, feeds well, varies from taking 2.5 oz - 4 oz plus some water and I then have to wake him just after 7 am. So, what the hell am I worrying about.......don't know, just can't help myself.
