.....will it be a disaster. Got 18 minutes in the oven left. I can't bear to look! Does anyone know whether it will be OK and look like a sponge cake or will I have to concede defeat?

DrZeus · 04/10/2009 16:24

Look now if it looks a little low you might want to warn DS it might be a new kind of cake - I did this the other day it was a bit like shortcake - which I guess is what it was really- it was edible but not like a real cake.

Oh- with S/R flour you should be fine - I made mine with just plain flour [dumb smiley]

skidoodle · 04/10/2009 16:27

If you used self-raising flour and introduced plenty of air during the mixing you might just be OK.

should be fine with s/r flour. may not be as light and fluffy as with s/r and baking powder, but should rise nicely and taste like cake :-)

Paolosgirl · 04/10/2009 16:29

You'll be fine. I never/rarely use bp if I'm using s/r

Did it work ok DRZ?
