To me it smells funny, a bit like baby poo but my dh thinks it's ok.

Would you use it?, i don't often buy a whole chicken so not sure how it should smell

it shouldn't smell

if it smells bad it's off - off chicken has a definite strong smell - if yo're not sure cook it and see

greensnail · 04/10/2009 15:50

yes, use it!

overmydeadbody · 04/10/2009 15:51

Cook it

You'll soon know if it is off. Just use your common sense, there is no way your body will let you eat rotten chicken.

Give it a quick wash and smell it again.

assuming you've followed the correct storage instructions (chilled), then i'd use it. If you've left it on the windowsill for the last few days I wouldn't

lollyheart · 04/10/2009 16:00

Thanks

It's been kept chilled, it's in the oven now.

was it ok lolly? are you still with us?

Doyouthinktheysaurus · 06/10/2009 18:10

Off chicken stinks to high heaven.

Sometimes I find meat wrapped from the supermarket can have an odd smell when first opened, which dissipates quickly. No idea why.

I'm still here i did'nt risk eating the chicken, i took it back to the shop and they gave me a refund
