Even dd2 likes it and she is 3 so it can't be bad

I used to stuff them with spinach, mozzarella - mushroom soup sauce over top, and serve with rice.

mmmmmmmmm

weird question. Does it taste like marrow ?

SausageRocket · 01/10/2009 16:20

I meant mine was a weird question. Not yours!

The problem is nobody in the house really likes them but we got one in the veg box the other day

They are massive, aren't they, and I couldn't think of how to get rid of it

But the soup was lovely... fried some onion, carrot, garlic and ginger with it, then at the end added coconut milk prior to blending. Lovely!

Anyone got a recipe for a stuffed marrow please? DD2 brought one home from allotment club and it's been sitting in the fridge for a week.

How about chucking it into a veggie curry?

PestoSunshineMonster · 01/10/2009 16:33

Have got toad in the hole on the menu for Sunday, wonder if I could somehow incorporate it into the accompanying veg?

Pesto
Just cut it lengthwise, peel it. I usually roast it for a small while in a low oven before i stuff it
You can load it up with anything - mushrooms, spinach, cheese etc.

I usually put a sauce over it, then cook it until its tender.

They don't really taste of anything, so they tend to go with whatever you put in it.

You can make vegatarian Parmaigan (sp? - brain fried) - slice of marrow, tomato sauce (or bolognaise for a meatier option) and mozza on top then bake.

My mum used to make cake with them (google chocolate zuccini cake) it is delicious!!

my mum used to stuff marrows with chilli or spag bol (without the spag..) and top with cheese and grill. yum!

BooBooChicken · 01/10/2009 16:38

(although i have a feeling she used to hollow out the marrow and throw the inside away away! how odd and more than a bit wasteful! )

Thank you so much, will do one of those.
