MiL cooks the most fantastic jam rolypoly.

But I'd eat stones before I ring her up for the recipe (She's a mean old trout).

Do any of you lovelies know how to make it please?

The old Trout cooks it in a long glass bread tin and uses suet.
Its lovely and moist and gooey. Want to make it for Dh as a surprise as its a big hit.

Nipping off for a little while but will return in eager anticipation.

For something as traditiona as that you need Be-Ro.
Not sure about the long glass bread tin, though!

baked jam roll

225 g sr flour
115g suet
4-6 tbsp jam
1 egg beaten
caster sugar to sprinkle

oven 200?c
grease and line baking sheet

mix flour and suet with cold water (100ml), to a soft dough

roll out
spread with jam ( gently warm jam first)
loosely roll up and put on baking sheet. glaze with egg and sprinkle with sugar.

bake for 30 minutes
is lovely and gooey with a crusty crunchy outside.
