Only on holiday and at Christmas. The girls got a jar each in their stockings last year!

It has lots of milk in it.

Practically health food.

Washersaurus · 19/09/2009 20:53

My boys have recently discovered the joy of nutella. I let them have a teaspoon mixed in with a banana in their weetabix/porridge occasionally.

I only like it on croissants

DS has not yet discovered it but I remember eating it on vanilla ice cream many years ago!

Lilyloo · 19/09/2009 21:01

ds is 7 so it has taken many shopping trips to get here believe me

and now they want it on bread

Nutella milkshakes are a current craze in this house!

ingles2 · 19/09/2009 21:06

I would love to have nutella, but dh has a nut allergy and I daren't have it in the house...

jkklpu · 19/09/2009 21:07

It's great in the middle of a chocolate sponge sandwich cake. But can't be beaten in the early days of motherhood, slathered on brown toast.

Nutella is revolting, as is any creamed hazelnut/chocolate combination

What was absolutely delicious was (and sadly no longer available) Sainsburys chocolate spread, in a white plastic tub with a bear on the front. No nasty hazelnuts, just smooth, yummy chocolateyness.

If anybody knows any of the big cheeses at Sainsbos......please get them to bring it back!!!

Lilyloo · 19/09/2009 21:37

so concensus is straight from jar or spoon for adults only

Ingles and CuppaTea, Cadburys do a chocolate spread with out nuts. We have here (DH has nut allergy, DC's not tested but avoid nuts) and everyone loves it - especially me, spoonfuls from the jar!!

MaryAmericanSmooth · 19/09/2009 21:41

God YES !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

MaryAmericanSmooth · 19/09/2009 21:42

my top treat - 3 rice cakes sandwiched together with lots of nutella - you get the deliciousness with the austerity of a rice cake - perfect balance.
As a child I wouldn't touch the stuff.

onehitwonder · 19/09/2009 21:44

I have recently overcome my puritanical 70's childhood:
Weetabix and marmite on toast for breakfast - good, anything that actually tastes sweet and indulgent - bad.
So now DD and I both have a slice of seeded batch loaf with Nutella on every morning . And Lidl's sour cherry jam on the other slice - yum!

MaryAmericanSmooth · 19/09/2009 21:51

mmm, I am puritanical about breakfasts really - dust ridden and worthy I like, won't allow Cheerios..but I do occassionally have a toasted muffin with a bit of nutella

ingles2 · 19/09/2009 21:56

Really TET? I've never seen it

Portofino · 19/09/2009 22:01

I live in belgium! It is a primary food group all on its own! Nutella sandwiches for breakfast are de rigeur! And for tea!

Mybox · 19/09/2009 22:02

Maryamerican - that sounds like my kind of snack!
