I need help with quantities for a cake

I hired a cake tin (in the shape of a 6, in case that helps at all) and was told by the woman in the shop to make the quantity as for an 8oz cake. I left and I'm now realising I'm not sure what she meant. As in 8oz of flour and then everything else to match that?

8oz flour, 8oz sugar, 8oz butter, 4 eggs.

I always worry about under catering though, so I'd do 10oz!!

Excellent, thanks. So do you reckon 10oz would fit in the same tin then?

I'd rather have left over cake mix than not enough. You can always make cupcakes with leftover mix!

ah, gotcha. Good tip. Thanks
