Help!! Choc Orange cake tastes bitter!

I'm making a pirates treasure chest for a party tomorrow. it's chocolate orange. the orange comes from marmalade. i've made it before but it was 2 years ago. this time around it tastes really bitter. my daughter spat it out.

Its a Nigella recipe and her cakes usually turn out delicous.

Any advice other than to bake again?

Marmalades vary so much - think we made this too but we have the 'sweet' type of marmalade - Asda luxury type, can't recall what its called.

Not sure how many children would go for that sort of flavour combo. But our youngest loves coffee or ginger type flavours so you never know!
