Blackberries

I found the most amazing big juicy blackberries at the weekend, and picked away! I made a really tasty apple and blackberry crumble at the weekend (yum yum yum) with half of what I had picked, but am not sure what to do with the other half. I always do a crumble you see. I was thinking of making some blackberry vodka as I heard it is best when you leave it to age over 3 months, so it would be ideally ready for Xmas (prefect) but I have never had a go at it before! Has anyone made this before and how did it work out? Failing that if you have an alternative great blackberry recipe tried and tested, please do let me know.

Bumping this because I also have loads of blackberries piling up in the freezer. And crumbles and tarts are all I've ever come up with.

Would love to know what the blackberry vodka is like.

No tried and tested recipes I'm afaid though am planning blackberry and apple jam this week and somewhere I think I have a blackberry and apple chutney recipe! Going for the crumble as well as DH has insisted. Will use some others for smoothies - a banana, blackberries and apple juice - as fruit-loathing 3 yr old loves them

Have already made plum vodka and rhubarb vodka this autumn but blackberry vodka sounds yummy and I'm not much of a drinker!

Wow plum and rhubarb vodka! I am impressed. Have you made them before? They sound amazing. I made the blackberry vodka in the end, but it will be at its best for Crimbo, will definitely post the taste tester results :-) x

I just have 'em for breakfast with greek yoghurt. Defrost a bowlful at a time in the microwave.

ours won't be ready till Christmas either, will have to have a taste comparison

Haven't made either before (though have tried other stuff a long time ago!)
Found major stash of wild plums and had used all the jars for jam before we had finsihed them so had a go at the vodka.
The rhubarb one was a Nigella recipe and we had the last lot of rhubarb to use and were crumbled out
Will remember blackberry one for next year, sounds yummy.

I certainly know what you mean about being crumbled out! hee hee. Looking forward to seeing how your yummy vodkas turn out too, fingers crossed for some blackberry success at our end :-)
