But Id also like to make those simple but yummy meze herby potatos they serve in greek cypriat(sp?) restaurants. Anyone know were I can get a recipe??

Ive just come back from cyprus and shud have bought a cookery book there.

Is it simply just boiling tats in cubes and then just marinating in olive oil , lemon and herbs ?????

Princess Pea Head or Soupy would know or Coddy probably. I adore Greek Food and I make mine with lots of lemon, oil and oregano.

NO family there but mum and dad have a villa there as a holiday home, in a new village just outside Limassol which is fab as Limassol stays open all year, not a resort as such. Their neighbout is the guy who 'invented' 888.com (or a similar casino web thingy) - he is minted and young.

Where did you stay?

We went to a hotel between protaras and Ayia Napa for a couple of days to break the hoilday up a bit.

pmsl at the thought that I'd know about Stifado!!

Beetroot does though.

We stayed at paphos amathus beach , but was a bit dated for my tastes!!! was like being at a wedding circa 1980!! spent a few evenings at The contemporary Almyra up the road! We drove to Limassol for the day and had a nose at ALL the hotels on the front for future ref. Le meridian looked lovely for older dd's !!

Ah Soupy--because you are so resourceful! She wanted a nice receipe for Greek potatoes!

Mum2Ela · 03/06/2005 17:59

Melsy we stayed at the Amathus Beach Hotel for our wedding anniversary weekend last year and I agree. The Elysium (sp) which we stayed at for part of our honeymoon was about a million times more gorgeous.

Le Meridian is nice in Limassol. Haven't stayed there but spent a day there using the facilities. Lovely!

melsy · 03/06/2005 17:59

IM finding loads that u bake in the oven, but they seem more roasted, yet they have the lemone herbs etc. The ones Im trying to find seem more just boiled, is that right?
