What did your child have for tea today?

My dd1 is 3 and a half and tonight she had sausages, couscous, carrots and broccoli (all half eaten!) then a Munch Bunch fromage frais for pudding. She drank diluted apple juice.

I would love to know what other children of any age have for their tea - just out of nosiness and also to get some more ideas!

Thanks!

Sausages (pork, taste the difference) and aloo gobi, made with my 4 year old DD from last nights left over spuds and cauli. Water to drink, nigellas cupcakes for pud.

linzoid · 19/05/2003 18:19

minced beef crispy pancakes, chips and peas.

Mulefa, dd is only 18 months so nowhere near your little one in age but she had pasta wheels with philly, peas and sweetcorn with some raisins for desert all washed down with water.

Lindy · 19/05/2003 18:24

My DS aged 2 had his favourite - broccoli in cheese sauce which he'd eat every night, followed by ice cream and a couple of pieces of my nectarine. Drank diluted orange juice.

Nothing - she was too tired and screamed when I put it in front of her - kids!

hmb · 19/05/2003 18:36

Ham sandwitch, with salad and cheese. Drank water with a chocolate pud to follow, but they have a cooked lunch at school.

elliott · 19/05/2003 18:43

ds (18 months): pasta with cheese sauce, peas and some aubergine from our supper last night. All the pasta picked out and eaten, a bit of the rest picked at (I undercooked the peas -normally a fave). Banana and natural yoghurt for pud. Milk and water (separately!) to drink.

SoupDragon · 19/05/2003 18:47

DS1 Ham sandwich DS2 piece of toast and cubes of cheese. Both have actually already had a cooked lunch and tea at nursery so I guess this is more like supper

Chicken casserole, carrots, peas, wild rice. Strawberries with creme fraiche. Lime juice.

Frenchgirl · 19/05/2003 19:15

dd currently having ham and mashed potatoes (I lick the pan, yum!!!), then will have natural yogurt and then strawberries, with a glass or two of water. Had some raw carrot to munch on whilst waiting for dinner as she likes to pretend she is a rabbit....

ds (16 months) had chicken korma and loads of Naan bread, and then was so full he refused the fruit that he usually has for pudding. Drank water. Dreading tomorrows nappies.

hoummus, tatziki, crackers, chopped pepper and cucumber and cheese.

expatkat · 19/05/2003 19:44

ds--also 3.5 ate: chicken steamed in leftover orange and peach juice; and a potato and carrot mash; water; a ind. pot of vanilla ice cream

lou33 · 19/05/2003 19:48

All four of mine aged 11 down to 2 had home made special fried rice with prawns, spring onions, garlic, chili, egg , carrots and soy sauce. Then a shop bought peach and pineapple strudel with cream.

ds 3.10 had breaded fish, mandarin segments, banana and piece of toast and water to drink.

dd aged 13 months had breaded fish, potatoes and celeriac with water to drink.

Philippat · 19/05/2003 20:10

dd (19 months) was offered fish fingers, garlic bread, oven fries (all normally dead certs as she'd not eaten much all day), then when that was refused, bread and fromage frais.

Finally ended up eating 3 chocolate covered raisins. Ah well, tomorrow is another day.

XAusted · 19/05/2003 20:16

Pasta with a chickeny/tomatoey sauce plus a little baked spud as not much pasta and a morsel of lettuce. Dd then had sliced banana with natural "Greek" yoghurt for pud. No pud for ds as didn't eat much dinner. Diluted orange juice to drink. Both kids really like chilli (mild!) with brown rice and fish pie (sometimes made with fresh fish, sometimes use a can of tuna plus a can of salmon instead, saves time!).

nettie · 19/05/2003 20:23

DS's (16months and 5 years) had veggie and rice hotpot and cheesy polenta muffins, fromage frais for pud and diluted orange juice to drink. Neither child keen on the hotpot but wolfed down the muffins. Tried DS2 with melon but wouldn't touch it, getting feeling he has a fruit phobia!

WideWebWitch · 19/05/2003 20:45

These are fascinating and impressively healthy. Ds, 5.5, would normally have something fairly healthy (pasta, beans, lentil hotpot) but tonight he had 3 satsumas followed by chips and wine gums on the sofa while we watched Jurassic Park 3.

judetheobscure · 19/05/2003 20:56

They are healthy aren't they - are all the chicken nuggeters refusing to post?

Mine had meatballs in tomato sauce (Waitrose - low fat range), pasta, corn on the cob. Bananas. Water. Didn't eat much of the meatballs (oh well, worth a try) but demolished everything else.

Think I will print out this thread for the ideas.

lou33 · 19/05/2003 21:02

I loathe chicken nuggets. Reconstituted garbage. Doesn't stop my kids from wanting them though.

SueW · 19/05/2003 21:11

My 6yo DD had cauliflower cheese followed by a Tesco choux bun. She drank water.

GeorginaA · 19/05/2003 21:32

Ragu and pasta, followed by a yoghurt. Mummy had that too
