is it as healthy?? obviously the stuff in natural jucies.
I've tried all the fresh and DS (8 months) isn't interested cos it's too sharp but tinned seem nicer.

think so nj - perfectly healthy.

NannyL · 02/06/2005 23:00

my charge loves tinned fruit... especially with custard! (oh and so do I!)

gingernut · 02/06/2005 23:01

I think so too! (it may lose some of its nutrients but not all and will still be high in fibre - definitely better than no fruit at all, but do keep trying him on fresh fruit too as they go through phases).

My children eat lots of tinned fruit - as long as it's in natural juice I would consider it perfectly healthy and as good as fresh. My two like it with custard, icecream, fromage frais or whizzed up in a smoothie, especially tropical fruit!

KatieMac · 03/06/2005 20:57

and they seem to be virtually additive free

mummygow · 03/06/2005 21:00

Like the sound of whizzing it up in the smoothie machine

expatinscotland · 03/06/2005 21:20

Nothing like a pineapple, banana and yogurt smoothie! Mmmmm.

mummygow · 03/06/2005 21:25

right stop it - it sounds too yummy and I have no fruit in the house (and only fromage frais)

Xena · 03/06/2005 21:32

I always buy the ones in Natural fruit juice (inc grape juice) not the one in syrup

kikidee · 03/06/2005 22:15

I think I read somewhere that it's not quite as good as fresh and you have to eat more of it to make one of your 5-a-day portions but if it's in juice rather than syrup I think it's not too bad.
