Recipe for cake with layer of fruit - any ideas?

I am wanting to make a cake with a layer of (cooked/pureed) fruit in the middle but cannot find my recipe - I know I had one for a spiced apple cake cooked this way. Has anyone got a foolproof recipe? Would v much appreciate it if you do. I have half a ton of apple and blackberry puree ready to go!!

I had a nice one once - will try and look for it. It originally had strawberries in it but I put apple instead - was lovely.

It was in the Good Food magazine - have you looked on their website?

just make cake mixture, add some to the bottom of the tin then add yourfruit then add the rest of the mixture, maybe sprinkle nuts on top and bake. Should be fine?!
