My menu for work is a bit bland/monotonous would anyone help liven it up a bit?

& is a bacon sandwich once every 11 days or so a very bad thing for an under 5?

This is what we have:
Lunch:Scrambled Eggs & Toast; Chocolate pudding
Tea:Mince, mash, with carrots & peas
Lunch:Cheese & Potato Pie with beans Ice cream, gingernuts & banana
Tea:Rice, fish with peas & sweetcorn
Lunch:Scampi, salad Fruit and Custard
Tea:Pasta with cheese,ham,broccolisweetcorn
Lunch:Beans on toast, salad Rice Pudding & peaches
Tea:Fish Pie with leeks & peas
Lunch:Pasta with cheese & tomato salsa Fruit charlotte
Tea:Toad in the Hole, with carrots & broccoli
Lunch:Chicken Nuggets, salad Trifle
Tea:Cold meat, chips & beans
Lunch:Pizza Toast, salad Profiteroles
Tea:Poached salmon with carrots & green beans
Lunch:Fish Fingers, broccoli & cauliflower Fruit Flan
Tea:Cowboy casserole
Lunch:Rice, prawns, peas, sweetcorn & raisins Fruit and ice cream
Tea:Baked potato & cheese, salad

It has been the same for months - I guess I am being picky rather than the children being bored (iyswim)

They have cereal & fruit or toast & jam for breakfast but I am thinking about adding beans or egg on toast (which stuffs up lunches - unless I only give them that choice on appropriate days) or maybe pancakes
They have fresh or dried fruit for snack or creamcheese & crackers or occasionally cake
They always have yogurt after tea

It is a nine day rota so if I add stuff I either need to remove stuff or make it 11 days

What is cowboy casserole.

Have you thought abut a chili, couscous, quinoa and other grains as well as maybe.

Sweet and sour

Spag bol.

Spanish omlette

chickpea curry or something with it.

Falafells in pitta - easy to make and cheap too.
soup

All easy to do and tasty.

Cowboy casserole is sausages, fried onions, beans & pineapple

Hmm Sweet'n'sour chicken is nice with noodles

Soup is never a major success due to the inability to feed themselves with it

Spag bol is a favourite but do I already have too much pasts on there?

We used to do couscous but the children went off it - I might try again

What is Falafells?

Spanish omelette might go down well - but do we have too much eggs/cheese already?

Sounds nice, my DCs would like all that and I don't have 11 meals in my rotation so I don't think anyone would get bored.
Would it be too difficult to do wraps and let them help themsleves to fillings ? Unless they have really big appetites I don't think you need to add anything at breakfast.

Katymac · 26/08/2009 21:13

Well I feed from 4m (against my better judgement) up to 11 so I think folding their own might be a bit much & too much choice at one meal is a bit complicated with 9 children at the table (but that could be because I am a bit lazy)

No one who feeds 9 children up to three times a day could be classed as lazy

Katymac · 26/08/2009 21:23

That is just the under 5's, I also have over 5's for breakfast & tea plus staff who need feeding too

But you can see why easy is best

We have lots of salmon is there a reccommended amount I wonder

Chicken thighs sound nice do they come without the bone?

Can't really eat off the bone with my age range.......but like the idea

Eggy bread for breakfast? Or maybe as a side dish for something bacon-y?
