Tonights dinner idea- horrible or ok?

I have a chilli ready for dinner but it's too hot for the children... No yoghurt, cream it anything to cool it with, but I do have half a jar of ready made sweet and sour sauce to use up.... If I stirred it into their portion do you think this would make it nicer for them, or disgusting beyond words?

OMFG

Put it, nay, hurl it in the bin.

Unspeakable product, unspeakable idea.

pasturesnew · 26/08/2009 16:48

Have you got any milk and/or cheese in the fridge, that would cool it down?

Otherwise what moondog said.

MrsMattie · 26/08/2009 16:49

Sounds gross. Don't do it.

Lizzylou · 26/08/2009 16:49

Ooh no, please don't!

Add some more tomatoes and a pinch of sugar?

MaybeAfterBreakfast · 26/08/2009 16:51

disgusting beyond words

OhBling · 26/08/2009 16:54

Ick.

Add milk. Add cheese. Even just some stock. Not sweet and sour sauce.

MadreInglese · 26/08/2009 16:57

barf

what about cheese

FimbleHobbs · 26/08/2009 16:58

Oh a mixed response then ;)

thanks, I knew it would be wrong but this is what that lovefoodhatewaste thing has done to me, I try and use EVERYTHING up even the stuff we should never have bought in the first place!

Will add tomatoes and sugar and serve with
lots of cheese. And won't ask my husband to make a child friendly chilli again as he is just too enthusiastic with the spices!

Cor blimey, that would taste......

FabBakerGirlIsBack · 26/08/2009 16:58

Don't do it.

It will be vile.

Let the kids try it as it is.

BecauseImWorthIt · 26/08/2009 17:00

Can't you make a greater quantity of rice and then stir a small amount of the chilli through? Then it's more like a savoury rice.

Worth also stirring a bit of tomato ketchup in it, as this will add more tomato and the sweetness. Or a tin of baked beans.

BunnyLebowski · 26/08/2009 17:03

Sweet and sour sauce has to be the most disgusting, artificial, additive-filled, nutritionally bereft, foul tasting ectoplasm about.

Go get some sour cream to mix through or give the kiddies summat else.

CatHerder · 26/08/2009 17:05

Serve with sliced bananas and lots and lots of rice?
