Best recipes for cornflake cakes??

I always make them be either
a) just melting chocolate and then stirring in the cornflakes.

or
b) bunging golden syrup and cocoa powder in a pan with some butter and then adding the cornflakes.

All a bit hit and miss...sometimes they are lovely...sometimes not.

Anyone got a fail safe recipe?

The last time I made them I think it was with golden syrup and melted chocolate, but can't remember where I got the recipe.

I have a James Martin recipe - tis the best. Hang on and I will go and get it.

I don't use a recipe. I melt chocolate, or chocolate bars (I've used mars, milky way, fudge, chomp, curly wurly, caramel, snickers) and then mix in one or all of the following: honey, dried fruit, glacé cherries, peanut butter, and then just mix in cornflakes until the texture's right.
If it gets a bit thick put in a small amount of milk to thin.

DD loves them.

2oz butter
4oz chocolate
5tbsp golden syrup
3oz cornflakes

melt butter and chocolate in a pan with the syrup. Stir in cornflakes. Put into paper cases and chill.

I use a tin of condensed milk, 3-4oz of cocoa & lots of cornflakes.

You mix the condensed milk & cocoa until quite dark in colour (think plain choc)

Then crush the cornflakes and add until the mix is quite dry

Using a stainless steel eggcup, pack in the mix and tip out on to a plate (dip the eggcup in cold water between cakes)

I like to be different - it was a war recipe

Melt Mars bars and add cornflakes. Yum!
