Am trying to find something I can have for breakfast that will fill me up until lunch time as I always get hungry about 10:30 and end up eating crisps or biscuits.

So i brought some porridge but it is foul. I added honey so i dread to think what it would of tasted like without that.

I did eat it all, but it's like eating glue.

What else can I eat to fill me up ??

Scrambled egg and toast with tomatoes? Boiled egg? I detest porridge too, wouldn't eat it if you paid me. (well, only if it was a LOT of money!)

nutcracker · 30/05/2005 09:00

LOL Nellie I would love to eat that every morning and actually I think I could get away with no lunch at all then.

Right all I need now is someone to cook it for me every morning

I'm not keen either. I have to cover mine with sugar, which kind of defeats the object.

MarsLady · 30/05/2005 09:38

nutty try eating it Annabel Karmel style. Cook some apple and dates in a little water, add to the cooked porridge and stir. If you blend it down it's like ready brek with natural sweetners. Lovely. I make it for the DTs and do an extra portion for me. Yummy!

nutty it IS nice!

beansmum · 30/05/2005 09:50

I think the secret of yummy porridge is to add enough liquid, if there isn't enough it gets all gloopy and horrible. I use the same amounts as cod but add about a cupful of golden syrup and some cream as well. yum!

why's that nutty?

nutcracker · 30/05/2005 10:13

I haven't a clue Marslady, think i'm just a pig, but I am constantly hungry.

I mean I ate that porridge this morning at about 8:30 and I could now quite happily eat 4 peices of toast or a full breakfast.

took you long enough to catch on. I was trying to work out what I would have to ask next lol

spots · 30/05/2005 10:19

I will always defend porridge. but just oats and water is revolting; oats, water and sugar not much better. You def. need a little salt, even if you're having it sweetened. which you need not do btw, if your porridge is tasty enough. Try oatmeal of alford (available lakeland and tesco) which just tastes amazing, all nutty aand savoury... or soak pinhead oatmeal in water for a few hours and make porridge from that because the texture is so much better than the gluey stuff...

shall shut up about porridge now. provocative thread title...

nutcracker · 30/05/2005 10:19

Lol am a bit slow today too

Anyway If i was i wouldn't even be able to look at porridge never mind eat it.
